Here are the results from our 10 person Competition Team that competed
at the 2003 WTA World Championships in orlando, Florida.
As seen in the Suburban News 8/2003 As an athlete the thought of being the best is tested with each competition. Competition ranges from a county, state, regional, and on a national level. The best from each country, known as National Champions still have a need to test their skills. These National Champions attend the most coveted of all tournaments, the World Championships. Ten students from Jeff Serdinsky’s Martial Arts America in Scotch Plains returned home this past week with 34 World Championship medals. The four day competition took place in Orlando, Florida and was attended by the best martial artists from around the world. Jeff Serdinsky’s Martial Arts America is led by their Chief Instructor Mr. Serdinsky. Mr. Serdinsky is an internationally certified 5th degree black belt and a member of the United States National Taekwondo Team. Mr. Serdinsky came home a World Champion winning three (3) gold medals, one (1) silver, and one (1) bronze. Mr. Serdinsky won all of his fights for Team USA despite breaking his foot earlier in the day. Keeping the winning spirit in the family and in the academy, Serdinsky’s wife Sharon also came home a World Champion winning an impressive five (5) gold medals. The rest of the Jeff Serdinsky’s Martial Arts America competition team came home victorious as well. The team captain and senior assistant instructor Samantha Grzywacz of Scotch Plains won four (4) gold medals and regained her World Championship title. Also bringing home World Championship medals were: Kate Judd, Charles Barber, Zack Skolnick, Tracey Lantz, Sarasijhaa Desikan, Matt DeSorbo, and Jeff DeSorbo. Competition was divided into forms, sparring, team forms, team sparring and power breaking. A special congratulations goes to Sharon Serdinsky for winning the most gold medals during the championship. Mrs. Serdinsky also set a new women’s power breaking record.
